Sign-up starts at 6pm! First rider leaves at 6:30 and one-minute intervals between departures.  Guess-timate your average speed if you’re not a regular. Race against the clock to get your placement for the night. When everyone returns a little fruit and drinks.  15-mile ride!  Professionals and amateurs.  Compete against yourself and your friends.  Last race is at the end of September.  Fee $2!!!

NOTE: There are no horse-drawn wagon rides in the winter. Weather permitting, they will begin again in April.

Volunteers are needed in Rockville Hills Regional Park to assist with Trail Crew Work Day. Meet at the parking lot at 9 a.m. sharp! Lunch is provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a group of friends or colleagues together and enjoy the great outdoors. Scout troops, school groups and civic clubs are welcome. RSVP is mandatory. Come explore the hills between Fairfield, Benicia, and Vallejo with naturalist Jim Walsh. Jim is an expert Solano Land Trust guide and he knows this area—known as the King-Swett Ranches—inside out. He’ll share insights about the birds and other wildlife that call this area home, and he’ll give you a great workout! Take advantage of this special opportunity if you can because the King-Swett Ranches are otherwise closed. Buckeyes, oaks and wetland meadows provide shelter for deer, fox, bobcat, waterfowl, and many raptors, including red-tailed and red-shouldered hawks, and the majestic golden eagle.Lynch Canyon serves as an important buffer zone between the cities of Fairfield and Vallejo. 5^th Annual Lynch Canyon Train Run

For those wanting a more rural setting to race, check out the 5^th Annual Lynch Canyon Train Run-  The run features a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and 2.5-mile community hike.  The route follows actual trails in Lynch Canyon and offers outstanding views of open space, the Napa Valley, San Francisco, Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo.  Entry fees before April 1 are $30 for half-Marathon, $20 for 10K, $15 for 5K, while the 2.5-mile hike is FREE. Registration increases after April 1st.


 

Suisun Marsh Field Day at Grizzly Island

The Grizzly Island Wildlife Area will be the site of the California Waterfowl Association’s 30^th Annual Suisun Marsh Field Day.  Activities and attractions include renowned waterfowl and wildlife artists, free trap shooting and instruction for children, waterfowl gear manufacturers, Junior Duck Calling contest, silent auction, raffle, refreshments, and a special New York steak lunch ($20 in advance or $25 day of event, $10 for kids 12 and under).  Great family fun!  Admission is FREE.
